Default If one was running K04s, RS4 Injectors, RS4 airbox, RS4 Maf, and RS4 Cams, couldn't they just...

...run already established aftermarket RS4 software instead of tweaking S4 K03 versions?

For example, www.mtm-online.de lists an RS4 upgrade package consisting of exhaust, downpipes, and ECU tuning with 458hp/480lb-ft (<a href="http://www.mtm-online.de/en/index.php?nav=3&FZID=RS4Q&Kitnum=MRS4380458QX">lin k</a>). Now this is not an S4 upgrade to RS4 parts, it is an upgrade for a stock RS4. Hypothetically, couldn't a stage III+ S4, running OEM RS4 fueling components, cams, and turbos, run this software with near identical results... without the need to tweak or compromise the car's built-in safety systems?

Just an idea I had. Maybe I'm way off on this one. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Default Well...

...now considering that the consensus on here seems to be that upgrading to an RS4 Y-Pipe and/or Throttle Body yields no real gains, that seems to indicate that (perhaps) that might not really matter, right?

Default Different heads on the RS4 too, these (and the cams) are what make the extra power

on the RS at the expense of some low down flexibility.

Default Too many differences between the motors. It would not work right.

Properly done homebrewing does not compromise safety. The only sensor you "fool" is the MAP sensor. The MBC installed in parallel is protection against overboost. It's a simple device that won't fail you.

the consensus is that they yield no real gains without proper tuning.

Default A little word of warning...

Don't go treading into unexplored territory mixing hardware configurations and slapping different software solutions without being prepared to spend a buttload of money and time on it. Even then don't expect it to work 100%. It's commendable you're trying to think outside the box but either stay the course and go with an off the shelf solution or try your hand at homebrew. Either that or learn to enjoy driving another car like I have!

Default 2nd.. one thing i hate about this car. im not satisfied with any of the off the shelf stuff

and while i have some ideas of what id like to do, i dont have the equipment to do it myself and paying someone else to make it reality is gonna cost a friggin fortune.

Default Out of all my RS4 parts, the only ones that I know make (better) power over stock are

RS4 ICS, although I think there are better options.

RS4 CAMS, although it requires custom tuning, and all the power is up top at 6500-7100rpm

Maybe ported heads, if you want more up top power too. (maybe the RS4 t-body too)

Lowered compression (ala RS4 head gaskets or OCT/MTM gaskets)

The rest of it isn't required.

And aside from the ICs, it all requires custom tuning.

Quick Reply: If one was running K04s, RS4 Injectors, RS4 airbox, RS4 Maf, and RS4 Cams, couldn't they just...
