Or does a chipped ECU and a stock ECU look exactly the same?
I have a friend who bought his S4 used...was never told it was chipped...but when i went to race him in my stage2 A4...he pulled about 6 cars on me in gear. I usually pull even or slightly ahead of a stock S4. I drove his and it feels noticeably quicker...so i popped his ECU today and there were no markings, like the company putting a sticker or anything on there. I looked at the actual "chip" part of the circuitry and nothing looked out of the ordinary.

Some look the same and have no branding. I seem to remember early APR's
being completely devoid of branding or visible alteration. Check his ECU housing screws. If the paint on them is disturbed chances are it was or still is chipped.
Or check your car, you may be losing boost or in limp mode. No way he should pull on you stock. Stock versus Chipped is like skinny Oprah to fat Oprah!

No, i drove my friends S4...
...i've driven lots of stock S4's and wasn't impressed (because my car has just as much tq with lots less weight)...but his car felt fast when i drove it, lots faster than mine...which just ins't right for a "stock" S4.
