it pretty loud on the 1-2 shift. You can hear it quietly on the 2-3 shift. Sounds like metal clashing. anyone have any idea what this is? cause? thanks!

http://kryptonik.org/lilis300/BlackS4.mov

Default My car makes the same exact noise---

It's only when I shift and then really pop the clutch out, like when I'm at the drags. It's like a grinding noise in my car that I always associated with bad synchros, however it's not actually when I shift (like bad synchros would suggest), it's only when I let the clutch out very quickly. Like yours, it's really loud on 1-2 shifts, and sort of audible on 2-3 shifts. Always wondered if it was something other than the synchros.

Default mine made the same noise, dealer traced it down to bad bearings on driveshaft

replaced the driveshaft under certified warranty and I have no more noise.

"B Cust. States drove with Matt- over 4000 RPM's remove foot from Gas- Car quacks Check and report

Cause:

Replace Drive Shaft
65 WA4
1 G-052-133-A3 Grease
1 8D0-521-101-G Prop Shaft
1 N-019-926-1 Bolt

59857 Prop-Shaft road tested car heard noise at 4500-5000 RMP's with car on lift could hear noise determined noise coming from prop-shaft. R&I Prop-Shaft. Packed front joint with greaes and aligned Prop-Shaft noise still there replaced Prop-Shaft with new. Road tested car again no noise heard this time"

Default i always thought it was the stock clutch plate slipping for a split second.

it cant hold on. rwd/fwd cars chirp the tires, awd chirps the clutch. both my s4's do it, and both my friends s4's do it. in fact ive never heard a a stock clutch s4 NOT do it.
