Imola's tranny exposed!

Either 9 or 10 of 99, I forget which. You are in the "group"!
But you still have to grind 2nd gear enough to cause this, I was doing fine until my son tried some speed shifting trick and missed, but kept pushing.

That was my first re-build too...a 196? VW bus engine.
Was sooo easy, got me hooked on doing my owm work. Was nice to just unhook a few wires, prop up the engine, and seperate the two by just pushing the bus away! Damn, things were so much easier back then.

Ha, the S4 is 10 times harder. I don't think the bus even had any hoses to take off.
As I recall, you unbolted the rear bumper, unhooked a few wires (Maybe 5 or 10), unbolted the bell housing, put a wood crate under the engine, and pushed the car away. Could do it in under 2 hours easily. At least thats how I remeber it, that was a along time ago. ;-)

I had a 01/00 build... had the soft metal, and my 1st/2nd synchro wedged at 30k miles
They replaced all the tranny bits with updated parts.. no problems since then (I'm at 63k now)
