Default info on rs4 heads (long)

had my car checked out by an independent mechanic yesterday and he thinks its possible that i'll need new heads soon. he also told me to be sure i was sitting down when i found out how much they cost. I'm operating under the assumption that rs4 heads are beefier than s4 heads because of the increased boost?

i STFA, and didnt find much at all (probably because of the fubar search feature). can anyone give me info on rs4 heads, how they're different (if at all) from s4 heads, compatibility, and approx. cost?

Default OEM S4 head go for 3800-4000USD each so now just guess how much for RS4 :)

Why put heads from RS4? you will not find use heads in good shape. dollar is low to euro so it will cost *v%$n more i did mine 6 months ago just to pull more power from the motor .. but i use OEM S4 heads and 600 USD on each head for the valve job and polish (Extrudehoning)all that $h|t .. one good exhaust valve will run you from 50-70 USD .. times 8

Curious...how in the world do you need new heads? What has failed or will fail "soon"?

Default Jason...kind of same topic, but how often do 99 A4 V6 30V head gaskets go bad?

Or even start to leak. I would think the valve covers or cam tensioner seals would start to leak first. How much would you charge for a head gasket install on the above mentioned. Email me if you'd like. Thanks

Headgaskets on that NA engine rarely leak. Leaks usually start from the tensioner area.

back in 2002 I got a quote, $7000 each. I'm not sure I believe some of the Audi "RS4" information.

Default all kinds off issues

substantial internal coolant leak, significant wear on head gasket, and he said the combination of those 2 (lack of coolant getting to where it needs to be; its burning off in the exhaust) might cause the heads to crack soon. said they dont look all the good now.

Default call Josh at Achtuning. He has my orginal heads with 30K miles on them.

You should be able to just bolt them on and go. no need to go RS4 heads at all. If you plan on doing any RS4 upper engine mods like intake mani/TB etc just use 2.6 euro or 2.8 heads, they will match the air intake ports of the RS4 manifold.
