Default Installed VM3...now have sandblaster noise at high rmp's...little help =(

Not sure what the cause is. Most accounts on the search I did say the sandblaster noise goes away with an exhaust, but I never had it before with my stock exhaust when I chipped it. Yes I have a Tip...but would that have any affect on it making that noise when in Tip mode and driving hard??? Any advice would be great, thanks.

Default You most likely have a dent/bend in the exhaust piping or the tips...

...when I did my weekly custom exhaust mods in Boston, some would have sandblaster sounds. I would check the piping and each time it was either the tips were not exactly right or the piping was bent incorrectly.

You'd be amazed how little a "kink" in the exhaust could cause the sandblaster but it's true.

So check your pipes and exhaust tips for irregularities.

Good luck!

Default

the sound changes through time, especially with aftermarket exhaust.

I would also check that it is bolted on and sealed well.

Default I had this prob. on GTI (when I was young poor and sloppy).

When I wrapped some exhaust tape around the seam the drone left and everything sounded just like I wanted it to.

Default Well checked the exhaust today...

Looks like I need to pick up some better clamps like the URL below and I should be in good shape, everything else seemed okay. Thanks for your help everyone =)

http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=14701&BQ=jcw2</a
