Default intake mani install - dyno runs - happy things and sad things - APR and AMS please read now!

I post this because I've always believed in reported everything I find. Regardless of how unhappy or happy I am with something. So i'll post more pics ans such tomorrow or monday and i'll let the dogs fight over what it all means. I really don't care as I have to have any cars pull on me and the strip next week will be more informative then people fighting over numbers. Either way I'm not thrilled or impressed. APR and AMS please take note

well I went down and spent a day/night with Anthony (blitz) and Mark (Silverbullet). First off let me say Silverbullet's car is INSANE. It's not even done yet and the thing is just scary. I also road in Todd's stage 3 car with the awe water to air IC's and headers and such. We also did a few runs on the road! Anyway to the facts

We installed 2001 intake mani and t-body both ported and polished by Blitz himself. We also installed his EDL kill switch to help me with my awful launches. Anyway we dyno'd the car before and after. We did a run on the apr chip the first day but never ran it again after. My numbers are only slightly better then Marins out west.

Best run APR
250HP 285 TQ

Best run AMS
285HP
274TQ
<img src="http://www.smalldogstudios.com/audi/dyno/aprvsams.jpg">

We also did an AMS run with and without Aquamists - 10whp gains just by hitting a switch? How can you argue that!
<img src="http://www.smalldogstudios.com/audi/dyno/aquatest.jpg">

Now the intake mani. the photo I took of my graph is crap so I need to redo that. However we saw about 8lbs of tq increase to the wheels and no HP but what is more important is the graph it self. The torque and hp curves go up quicker and the torque hits much earlier. I'll post that graph with the repost that looks better but
<img src="http://www.smalldogstudios.com/audi/dyno/intakemani.jpg">

Another interesting thing is our 2nd run today vs our 2nd run yesterday - both with some heatsoak but with the intake mani we lost a lot less hp. Our first run on day one was 285 and our second run was 259. Today we never dropped below 270 with the aquas. Not sure if its related. Temps were the same...probably not but it is what it is
<img src="http://www.smalldogstudios.com/audi/dyno/run2vsrun2.jpg">

Now we ran AWE's uberwagon with headers, water ic's, etc etc. We did a 1st gear pull at 15mph and ran through most of 3rd gear - the first run i hit the end of 3rd gear. The AWE car dynos 315 on their dyno. On the first run my car pulled slightly in first and second and then stayed pretty even through 3rd. The next two runs we were dead even shifting at nearly the exact same time. I expected to get my *** handed to me through the 3 gears. and instead i did really well the first run then I think awe's very cool water to air ic's took over and while my stockers heatsoaked - the awe car was more hten happy to run againa nd we ran dead even.

Oh the EDL switch kicks ***! launches feel great!!!

Blitz gets a bad rep out here and frankiy i've given him **** for the fun of it too but he is a VERY awesome guy. He put me up for the night and even paid for my dinner when I was paying him (too little) for spending 5 hours under my hood and teaching me how my car works. He knows his **** and I have no doubt about it. I can't thank him enough for the hospitality and kindness. The car feels great. The dyno numbers suck and im very bummed about it. I don't like thinking my car on pump gas runs like a stage 2+ on race gas but I 'll pray for apr to come around for me. we shall see. I'll run it wed assuming the weather works out.

Flame away, argue at the numbers, whatever. Real world experiences are so much better then dynos. when someone walks away from me on the highway in an S4 besides the bullet I'll be more worried well I know a few people that might! Anyway I hope this was informative. As I said I believe in being straight up and not hiding behind bull ****. It would have been easy to say this never happened and we can really see how garbage the A box apr chip is it. I just pray they fix it soon.

Default I should also say

that Todd was very friendly. He donated his time and his dyno to test Anthony's intake mani and that was much appreciated. I got to see some amazing things down there. He even came in today to finish up some tests on my car. I would say he had no objectivity in the tests and I think felt my pain in the things we were finding. I think he was a little suprised my car kept up with his on the road runs but as I said before. Real world experiences are so much better then a dyno! Dyno's are best used for testing back to back mods or cars on the same machine . But on the road is where it matters!
