I've read somewhere that putting on a turbo timer is a waste of money because S4 has the after-run

Default I've read somewhere that putting on a turbo timer is a waste of money because S4 has the after-run

pump that keeps oil flowing to turbo. Is this true?
Thanks.

Default It won't run unless you reach a certain temp (250 degrees maybe?)

Mine has never run. With that said, you still don't need a turbo timer. Just stay out of boost the last couple minutes before you shut down. It is much better to drive around out of boost compared to sitting in place with the car running.

Default So are you saying that you dont need to cool down your turbo unless the oil temp hits 250F? Mine

rarely goes to 250... so does that mean I could just turn off after driving? When do you know to turn off your engine after a hard run? Is the oil temp accurate or should I get an exhaust temp instead?

Default That is not what I am saying at all. I'm saying the pump won't run until 250 or so.

You should stay out of boost the last couple min no matter what. You rarely need to to wait to shut down your car if you do so. As long as my gauge shows me below 225 (99% of the time) and I stayed out of boost for a min or two before reaching my destination, I shut down instantly.

Default

oil temp on the dash has little to do with the local temp of the turbos.

Default It just isn't necessary. Plain and simple, NOT NECESSARY!

If you stay out of boost for a min or two, you'll be fine.
