Just bought a 02 S4 Sedan.....can't wait to break it in!!
Hey Everybody,
I just got a Santorin Blue 2002 S4 Sedan with Prem. package, cold weather pack, and CD changer. I ended up getting a tip tronic because of my commute.
As an ex BMW M owner, I will admit I'll be a little critical of the performance...but I can't wait to hit 1,000 miles so I can really see what this car has!
Any advice from you veterans out there that I should know about being a new S4 owner??
thanks,
jay

Got an 02 too. I've been flooring it since 30.0mi and..
i've had no problems. i got a couple thousand miles now. i put in the APR chip at about 1,500mi or so. i've never bought into that break in period crap. my buddy bought a 355 and the chief mechanic told him to drive it like it's stolen. now the mechanic says that his 355 pulls harder than any other stock one. the only thing to feel for is any roughness as you rev it up. if it's rough, just back off. but once it's smooth....mash it, dude.

Um.... a few things
First of all, Porsches and Ferraris are broken in AT the factory. Our cars ARE NOT... Therefore you do need to be easy on the car the first 1000 miles or so. You should NEVER go above 4500rpm or so for the first thousand miles. Serious damage can occur if you do not adhere to this instruction.
Second, unless you really don't care if your warranty is voided, I would NOT say anything about "chipping" your car here. Anybody from the dealership or Audi can see your name in your email address and then void your warranty based on your statement about the APR chip. IN fact, I know for a fact that the service guys at Univ read this forum (hi john and phil)! I'm not trying to be rude, I'm trying to help you out... I'd hate to see you get into any problems down the road. Univ is a great dealer but they can only do so much to protect you. If you have any Qs about this feel free to email me and we can discuss it more offline.
Have you signed up for the Seattle Audi Club mailing list yet. Follow the link in my sig and click on the yahoo link to sign up. We'll be getting together soon for Go Karting and Krispy Kreme donuts!! I'll look forward to meeting you. We can talk more about this stuff then!
