Just curious, does a blown turbo throw a DTC? and if so what is it?

Sometimes you will get DTC/MIL, sometimes only dentist drill noise.
Sometimes neither (minor damage to turbine).
You'd think these smart Germans would have put better diags. for this sort of thing, at least a turbo rpm sensor...
Guess they never thought they would have so many problems with hoses, sensors and valves, none the less, Toyota never had such problems with their turbos.

It was worse on a cold morning start. I'd start driving and the passenger side turbo would whistle up and down in tone as the revs went up and down. The noise got increasingly louder.
After a while, in 5th or 6th gear, if I let off the throttle and get back into it, just basically tapping the acclerator, I can hear a resonating humming sound between 2900-3000rpm while a load is on the engine. It has gotten louder now and it is quite a high frequency resonation, and starts at even lower RPMs, I'd say at about 2500rpm with load causes that resonating hum.
Car should be going in for the turbo replacement in 1.5 weeks or so. We'll see how it does.
Performance wise, no real loss. Too bad I don't have VAG or I could really diagnose it.
