Default Just got horrible news from Blackstone...Mysterious Coolant Consumption...continued- ->

Posted a while back about a mysterious consumption of coolant and a few people chimed in about having experienced similar issues...

Got a call from Blackstone today (just the fact that they called instead of just sending the analysis back, was of concern. It was like getting a call from your doctor...

Anyway...the general condition of the oil is good with the exception of an extremely high aluminum content. Expected is 3ppm...my oil shows 41ppm.

Obviously the coolant is entering the oil; the resulting contamination and break down is causeing excessive wear on the internal aluminum parts... Heads? Pistons? Bearings?? what else is Aluminum?

If the bearings are aluminum I have big worries...if the Pistons and Heads are aluminum, I have worries but marginally less. Either way the motor is going to have to come out for some exploratory work...

I'll post the Blackstone Analysis when I get home... Thoughts???

Default This is why it's a good idea to have oil analyzed - glad they notified you of a problem

now so that you potentially have enough time to fix it.

main sources of wear i can think of are piston skirts and cam bearings

Default just think what the extra cylinder pressures from stage 3 will do to an already compromised seal...

relax, you're fine
