Just pulled the '01 S4 Avant out of storage and...(long)
battery dead after about 4 months...some may cringe at this but here it goes...jumped car for about 15minutes and nothing-no juice to even crank, however was showing about 13v. Finally turned over after about 20minutes and damn those cables were hot...
Let idle for another 10minutes and then took to the streets for a slow, easy warm up..Oil temp was up to normal operating temp, still taking it easy and began to scrub the rotors a bit with 4-5 progressive stops from about 20mph up to 50mph.
After those stops & on way back home notice ESP light on as well as ABS...stayed on all way back home and when arrived & let idle again...and turned car off.
Out of curiouisty tried to re-start and nothing...
...I chalked that up to a dead battery and was reason for ESP & ABS lights on while driving...
Any advice on new battery & install?
Thanks

Things i would've done differently -- put a trickle charger on it while it was stored (or at min.
d/c the battery to prevent drainage), pulled the fuel pump fuse and turned the engine over for at least 10secs or so to pre-oil the engine.
you need to d/c the terminals, remove the plastic trim piece by pulling the weather stripping forward then the plastic piece itself, then remove the lower windshield plastic cover, then remove the clamp on the pass side of the battery, then pull the battery up.

I replaced mine with an odyssey but any group 48 vented (i think that's correct) will work. Sears
has one that fits, IIRC. Odyssey's can be found online. I have a Odyssey 925.
