Just Returned from Nederlands, Belgium, France, Austria, and Germany....(Long)
Well I have missed you all..and now just got back late around 8PM last night from a 20 day vacation. Got to have the pleasure of driving a POS Rental Car on the German Autobahn's for the past week. Man did I want my S4 out there. The funny thing was is that I only saw a total of 2 S4's the entire time I was in Europe. Maybe it is the fact that "Super" runs about $4 US dollars per gallon where diesel fuel is only about 2.90 dollars. But I tell you what there were some fast TDI's out there on the Autobahn. I was doing around 110 (Car nearly redlined in 5th) and I would get passed by Audi, BMW's, and Mercedes doing around 150 or so was my best guess. Pass and get OUT OF THE WAY was the my modo (As it should be for ALL drivers (In My Dreames)) Saw quite a few S3's and A2's along w/ a crap load of A4 Avant 2.7 TDI's.
The autobahns that run though Germany are generally 3 lanes of traffic.
In lane 1 are the 1000's of 18 wheelers which cause some interesting braking situations and very dangerous. The 2nd lane is where the trucks "sometimes" pass one another and where I spent most of my time except when passing. The 3rd lane is the place where all the action was....BMW's getting chased by Audi's and vice versa. It was a beautiful thing..generally there are only "limitless" sections where there are no off ramps and cities around. Also no sharp corners etc. However one funny thing is once the 120 KPH sign shows up everyone lays on the brakes to within about 20 KPH as there are several speed traps that really punish the drivers. Also radar detectors are illegal..so that sucks ;-) Here is one pick of an audi chasing a BMW at about 125 MPH....MAN I WANTED MY S4 THERE!!! ;-)

Cities we saw:
-Amsterdam ;-)
-Brugge
-Brussels
-Paris
-Salzburg
-Munich
-Fussen
-Rothenburg
-Bacharach
-Frankfurt

Man when I got in my S4 this AM..
I couldn't believe how firm/heavy the clutch was compared to my rental POS and obvously the power and handling...I thought a wheel was going to fly off my SERT 1.6L 110 HP rental machine ;-)
