Default Just scheduled my 5k service and had an oil question...

The guy on the phone told me that they are using "factory approved" 10w30 for this time of the year. Does that seem right??? Why would my owner's manual say: 0w30, then 5w30, and possibly 5w40? I guess I'll be bringing my own 0w30... Is it 6 or 7 quarts? Thanks.

Default total BS....(m)

the owners man-yull says 0w30 or 5w30, and I think we can all agree that synthetic is preferable.

10w30 *might* be acceptable for someone in Texas or Florida in the Summer. Bring your own oil, and ask for the empties!

Or, do like me and change your own earl. BTW, I'm putting in Mobil 1 0w30 this weekend.

Default 'Cause it is no cost to ya!

When I had my oil change over the summer, they put 10W30 as well. I did not like it, since it seemed to be a bit heavy for my liking.

The service was free, since it was part of the Audi Maintenance Program.
This time, I asked for 0W30, but they only had 0W40, and that is what they put in. No more 5W30, until Summer, and definitely no more 10W30, ever!
The only cost was $18, to get the 0W40 Mobil1 Synthetic.

Make sure to be specific next time, or bring in your own oil. I had brought my own oil just in case, but they had some in house, so I saved mine for the next trip.

Default this guy must live in the southern hemisphere

winter's coming and he wants to put heavier weight oil into your car? wonder what they put in during the summer. 15-50?

go 0-30 or 0-40. dont believe him. maybe he didnt get the audi bulletin regarding oil changes.
