Default Just when you least expect it...

you get a baby!

Early yesterday morning, a little after 4AM, I am dreaming about the baby we were expecting around the end of April, when my dear wife wakes me up very nonchalantly and calmly informs me that it apparently will not be coming at the end of April because it is on the way NOW!!!

Oh ****! So I jump out of bed and proceed to run around in circles screaming with my arms flailing in the air, while my much more composed wife packs a little something for her stay and heads down the stairs. I somehow manage to compose myself as well, and help her get her stuff, get dressed, and jump in the car (S4 content here). Because of previous complications during the pregnancy, we had decided to have the baby at a hospital in St. Petersburg (50 miles away), where they have much better pediatric facilities than in Sarasota. We had planned a c-section several days before the baby was expected, so that my wife would not have to go into labor unnecessarily. Oh well, so much for that idea, labor had started...

Thank God for the S4. We had called her doctor, and based on the interval of the contractions, he told her that we could get to the hospital on our own. The S4 is one of the few vehicles I felt comfortable and safe transporting my poor wife in labor at a brisk (yet safe) clip. It sped diligently down the interstate, which thankfully didn't have much traffic on it at 4:30 in the morning.

We got to the hospital and were immediately taken in, and a small while later I was looking at my newborn son!

His name is Benjamin, and although quite premature he was already quite developed, weighing in at 6 pounds 3 ounces. Other than some difficulty breathing, which is common for early babies, he is healthy and looking great! Mom is doing extremely well also, and recovering from the operation.

Default Since she's been pregnant my wife had been complaining about the brisk (but safe) clip

Yesterday morning she encouraged it
