Default well, if people are paying attention

it discourages whatever i am referring to from being discussed in public.

so, its a double edged sword.

Default Is APR claiming a patent on the mechanism for switching programs, or the act of switching programs?

Doesn't GIAC do the same thing?

Default i'd guess the main components under dispute are

1) how the user interacts with the ECU (GIAC uses an OBD dongle, not the cruise stalk)

2) encryption techniques to discourage reverse engineering.
