Default paint

ball.

You guys have any interest? I'm getting back into it again and there's a field in Lakewood that looks like fun.

Expensive sport (full of shiny toys) but hella good exercise and ya get to shoot people...how cool is that?

Default ever tried airsoft? now that's a blast

Real popular in Japan and Italy; you can import the guns here. Fun as hell, esp. with full-auto and gas-blow-back guns.

Default my nephew does that but...

no, have all the paintball equipment and the fields are set up for it so no compelling reason to change. How exactly does one know he's got a hit in airsoft? The point of paintball is that (short of wiping) its easy to detect a hit.

Default some paintball fields do it...

but often a group of people will just get together and either rent someone's property, or use the property of someone in that group.

Detecting hits is more on the honor system; long-range hits don't leave any mark at all, and you can't see exactly if you hit someone from 100 feet away, so it's on the honor system. Most people are pretty honorable about it. If someone's being dishonest, they'll get what's coming to em (i.e. hosed down by a full-automatic M16 from 10 feet away).

It's a lot of fun, though, because the weapons are so varied... bolt-action sniper rifles, M16s, submachine guns, mp5s, pistols, functional silencers and scopes, grenade launchers (which are really more like huge underbarrel shotguns, but they're cool). There are even a few miniguns in existence, and they really work and they really do fire several thousand rounds per minute.
