Default Leasing Options . . . opinions requested. What's the "best" option . . 36, 39, or 42 months?

Have heard quite a bit of negative feedback about the 39 month lease (one to the tune of "a 39 month lease is a sure sign that the dealer is trying to 'screw' you" -- I'm not really sure what that was all about, though). Looking for some educated (i.e. people in the finance business or folks who REALLY researched this stuff thoroughly) opinions about which lease option offers the most for the money (in terms of best residual, money factor, etc.) I realize that the longer the term the less the residual, etc., just looking for some caveats I might not have thought of or known about.

Also, what's the deal with the money factors for the S4? Is AoA using different m.f.'s for the S4 than the A4? If so, why? Would I be able to find a better m.f. at an independent leasing co. or bank?

Default One drawback of the 39 month lease

You have to pay your yearly registration and then possibly dump the car 2-3 months later. In California, this is a BIG deal...probably $400 fee.

I have a 39 month lease on my current A4.....28 months into it...

P.S. To keep my payments down...I will be considering the 39/42/48 month S4 lease. I
will be leasing...I just don't know the term yet. BTW, dealers can adjust the money factor
and essentially get a little bit more out of a deal. I think the S4 money factor is 320...but
I could be wrong (the standard one)

Default The dealer I'm working with (Northland Audi in Cincinnati) isn't using Audi Financial for the lease

they are using Huntington Bank (a regional midwestern bank) because their money factor is .00277 (which roughly equates to about 6.64% interest rate). However, the residual is lower on the 36 month lease via Huntington (it's 54% instead of Audi's 60%). I'm curious to see how the monthly payments compare.

As far as the money factor goes, how much "wiggle room" does the dealer have with Audi's money factor (I believe it's .0032 -- which roughly equates to 7.68% interest rate)? As far as I understand it, the money factor is based somewhat on the borrower's credit rating -- i.e. the better your credit "score" the lower the money factor?

Comments appreciated.

Default Pure speculation here....and I have been known to be wrong "frequently"

But I think if the dealer wants to get a bit more out of a lease deal they can worsen the money factor on their own...and get a bit more from you by increasing your payments a slight amount. BTW, I work at a bank but I know squat about loans....I don't even play a loan officer on TV!

P.S. All I want is a payment I can afford...that is not considerably more than what I am
currently paying.

Default Re: Leasing Options . . . opinions requested. What's the "best" option . . 36, 39, or 42 months?

I had my dealer run the numbers for a 36 month lease last night: 10,000 miles, current Audi Financial business, 0 down - the lease price was about $750/month, which I think includes Minnesota tax.

I have been looking at BMW leasing on a 328CI at $600 less MSRP: same terms (no current BMW lease) - the web lease price was $620/month before tax.

This has me started to rethink my S4 order and this was right after I drove one for the first time.

My 2 previous A4 2.8Q leases were competitive with BMW leases at the time. What gives!

BTW - when is www.audiusa.com going to be updated so at least I can check the S4s lease price.
