Default Looking to purchase my first Audi/S4! I'd like some opinions of these three!

Hello All,

Brand new to these forums! I'll be purchasing my first Audi...first S4 within the next couple of days. I have three that I'm looking at right now and really would want some thoughts on these two. I know the issues these B5 S4's tend to have so I would like to get everyone's opinions on these three.

2001 Audi S4

2001.5 s4 stage 2 with reiger body kit, stage 3 ready!

2000 Audi S4 Nogaro Blue manual STAGE 3

The third is the one I'd like. Due to the fact I've ALWAYS loved the Nogaro blue and if what he says is correct, the K03's have been replaced. We all know how much of a pain those are to replace and how costly it is.

Thanks everyone!

Not too far a drive from Maine... I'm going to spend more time shopping the Massachusetts CL offerings!

The one thing I am worried about is that the Nogaro blue S4 does have a salvage title! Looks like the car was stolen a few years ago and reclaimed. Hmm.

The thief had good taste in cars.

Any idea how long the tune has been on there? I don't mean to scare you, but some folks spend their budget on mods, have their fun, then unload the car when the maintenance costs rise.

That he did!

I'm not too sure, I'll have to check with the owner. He stated he's selling it because he "has too many toys" In my opinion...there's never too many toys..

I'll check with him.

Or his mechanic told him "if you are thinking of selling this car, now is a good time because X,Y,and Z will need to be replaced soon for an estimated $4000."

I agree, never too many toys. Which brings up the following questions: will this be your toy or intended daily driver? Are you mechanically inclined to work on it yourself?

I would be very careful buying a modded car.

Thanks for all the replies Highmile. I'm very mechanically inclined, thanks to my pops. This will be a winter car. I currently have a 2014 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0T R-Spec as my Daily and it didn't fair too well in the winter last year so I figured I'd get something fun yet kinda responsible . However after hearing about this car I kind of want to go more for the 2001 in westford. It seems to be "mechanically" owned and it looks like he's done a ton of maintenance on it. Would be the better choice IMO!

Yeah, the one in Westford looks pretty good. What issues do you have with emissions down there? Sounds like he gutted the cats. Show up with $5500.

2.7t S4 is a great car. If you decide you need to wake it up, you can get almost +50 hp with just a tune. ($500ish) I don't want to see you buy a grenade, so don't take candy from strangers, or buy their highly modified S4.

Thanks Highmile. I don't want to buy a grenade either, I want something decently reliable! Emissions is pretty strict BUT I know a guy who knows a guy type of deal if you catch my drift. You really think $5500? The average price of 5 S4's I've seen is $7720 but yet again this is the asking price as well and doesn't concern real world value of a 167K car.
