Default Looking at an S4 but have a question

Hello,

I'm looking at an S4, for a daily driver. The TA is useless in bad weather. Originally I was planning to buy an A4 1.8T, but for just a little more, I can pick up a used '00 S4 with around 10-15K miles. Going this route, is there anything in particular that I should make sure I check? I've heard some talk about problems with the turbos or something along those lines. I'm pretty green when it comes to turbos, and just want to make sure I dont get burned by not looking in to something.

Thanks,

Default Thats what a warranty is for

Hey all you need to know is that it hasn't been wrecked and your warranty takes care of the rest

Default I would buy a used S4 from the dealer. This way, you get the 3 yr warranty (or 4yrs for 2001) and

you also get an additional 4 yr warrnty for a used audi (or something like that). this way you have all of your bases covered

Default Well mike, you're in luck.

I live in northern VA, and have an immaculate blue S4 for sale. It's got 12,000 miles, 6 speed, convenience package, 6 cd changer, heated seats. All for $34,000. All the folks that say "buy from the dealer" are really doing you a disservice - the dealer simply buys from folks like me, slaps their name on it, and sells you the car for much more than a private seller would charge.

I have all maintenance for my car done at Rockville Audi, and the Audi warranty is transferable. Whether you buy from a dealer/private seller is irrelevant - the warranty is 3/36,000. I bought the car in Feb of 2000, so you'd have till Feb '03 - and 24,000 miles to rack up in that time if you wanted.

The S4 for the most part is reliable. The 2000s had issues when chipped with the TBB/F-hose blowing out a lot, and some have conjectured that this led to some turbo failures. I can tell you that if you buy an S4 from a dealer, you don't really know its history, and an ECU swap is easy enough to do. Everyone here knows that I have never chipped/modded my S4 aside from putting in a 20% UUC short shifter.

If you're interested, let me know, otherwise feel free to email me with questions during your car search. Even if you don't want mine, I'd be happy to help you find one at a good price in good shape.

Alex.
