Losing coolant - all over belly pan, some on intake manifold and
some from a crack in the hose from the bottom of the expansion tank to the radiator. I know I need to replace that hose. My local mechanic thinks the coolant pump is to blame for the coolant on the intake manifold.
Does this sound right? I've replaced my exhaust gas temp and o2 sensors before. Is this a much tougher job? Still a do it yourselfer?
fwiw I don't believe I'm losing any coolant internally.

There are ways to do it without taking the intake manifold out.
When I did mine, I had the engine out of the car so just took off the intake manifold. I personally think it would be less of a pain in the *** to take it off, but to each thier own.

I've read something about making sure you replace O-rings around the afterrun pump but I don't have full information and haven't had to do it myself yet. You might want to look into that.

Is this a common problem?
It happened to me yesterday. Had to have my car towed home.
Any other maintainance I should perform while I'm in there replacing the aux pump?

Yes, especially as the cars get older. Many replace the aux pump, many delete it altogether. It's not needed unless you run the car really hard and then turn it off without letting it cool down. If you've never heard it running after you turn the car off, then you probably don't *need* it.
