Default Same is true for the 1.8T VWs (and I belive the TTs).

On my wife's Jetta, if I start it up and then immediately shut it down (so the car hasn't had any chance to warm up), the pump still runs.

Default Corrected below/ more than just run the after-run system(ECU primary sensor as well). Have you run..

this for a while to make sure there are no ill effects? Are you chipped? If so have you looked at fuel trim after installation?

Good info(thanks) as my after-run pump/fan rarely come on at all. Just want to make sure there aren't side effects associated with changing this sensor/threshold. I do know the green ones replaced the original black ones due to the originals often failing or giving erroneous readings(have one I owe ZoldMan for) but the sensors are roughly the same measurement(reading)-wise.

I wonder how much more quickly that after run pump will fail with this increased activity?

Default Yep, I think he's talking about the one on the other side too....

..this sensor is only for the after-run system. Some people have bypassed (jumped) this sensor all togther with no ill effects.

Weren't most of the failures cracks? Might as well get some use out of it before it fails :P

Default I've been wondering that too. But I really think it fails do to heat and...

...lack of use. The 5000T's run an idential pump (in a better location) and they don't seem to have anymore failures than we do. Oh yeah, there pumps seems to run more often.

Default Yes....it's run off a system that's only active for 10.....

..mintues after the car is turned off. I know of at least one person on here that actually bypassed the sensor (jumped it) with no ill effects.
