Luckily I still have the S4 Avant... Protection is key in NJ!
Hey guys!
Don't post very often, but I thought I'd share my recent breakin experience. My wife went to the local Shoprite here in Morris County, NJ for twenty minutes about three weeks ago just before 6pm. She was parked right in front of the supermarket! When she came back outside, we found this:

I was quite lucky because when I bought the car; I did quite a bit of research via this forum. I had an alarm installed and had the door rod removed at that time. Having the door rod removed is probably the reason I still own the car! Needless to say, we're quite relieved!
Since the break-in, I filed the police report and brought the car to C&D Auto body in South Hackensack. Matt was a great help! Worked with the insurance company (NJM - great company) and guided me through the claims process. We met with the adjuster at the shop and got the claim processed.
I just picked up the car today. It looks better than when I picked it up at the dealer when I bought it with only 577 miles! They detailed the car and got rid of some of the surface scratches as well. The new door and pinstripe look great. The paint blend and texture match look great. Unless you knew the car was worked on; you cannot tell!
So here are some pics of the car complete :-) I also took the opportunity to add the rear door handle modification when it was in the shop. I'll have to say - I love it - the car looks much cleaner now and it was cheaper than replacing the original door handle and lock.

So I guess I'm one of the lucky ones! Hopefully, if anyone tries again and sees the rear door modifcation; they'll know there's no door rod in the car and move on...

C & D auto body link

The front handle mechanism is replaced by a rear one. He just removed the original
lock actuator rod from the stock door handle. The reason they tried to break in was the lock cylinder was still visible.
