Chip and exhaust don't affect max speed.....
Ok a chip may cuz it allows a higher RPM before rev limiter... Gearing and tire rotation determines speed, chip and exhaust only help it get to the max speed faster

Chip gives lots more HP for which allows for more top end. Also emilinates top speed limiter at 143
Chipped S4's top out around 170-175mph. Stock S4's without the speed limiter (as with APR's stock setting) top out around 160mph.
I don't know where ferris got his/her ideas. he is right about gearing, but the S4 is drag limited with it's stock hp. when you hit top speed, you still have 1000rpm or so to go.

It depends on how much power is made in the rpm range the engine reaches at top speed. You could have lots of HP down in the lower RPM range but fall off drastically after 6000 rpm and not make as high a top speed.
