Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, good replacement ?
#4
Longest lasting, and decent in the snow, but not the stickiest.
I have them on my VR4, and until the heat up, they aren't grippy, but they do last for a very long time.
When they are new, the are excellent in the rain.

I have them and like 'em. If you're going for max performance (m)
you may want to look at something different. They don't grip as well as the stock RE040s did, but other than that I think they drive well and are much better in the rain. Performance driving is decent with them, just not up to what you'd get from a tire dedicated to that purpose.

BTW, are you looking for an all season tire, or a dedicated seasonal tire?
I'll be honest. I bought them because my car has 600 HP and it burns through tires like the SO3 and other dedicated summer tires like it burns gasoline. I bought the Michelin AS for it's wear characteristics mainly.
The Michelin Pilot AS is a very, very long lasting tire, and it isn't prone to cupping on the edges so it stays very quiet throughout it's life. But unless the pavenment is very hot, they squeal a bit too much for my liking, and don't offer the grip or response of the regular Pilot, or the SO3, Rossos, etc. Of course, those tires are for **** in the snow, if you plan to use it in the snow. A/S are superb in the rain ,especially when they are new. The Pilot A/S are also pretty decent in light snow when they are newish.
You may want to have a look at the Firestone SZ50EP. I have them on several of my cars, and I absolutely love them. They are available in a 235-45-17 and they are better across the board, rain or dry, and they too last a long time. Not at all good in the snow however....
