His friend is a lead mechanic at the Toyota dealership where he works and he is saying there is no way it is misfiring as frequently as VCDS claims, and that he thinks it could be a computer problem. Has anyone had any experience with false misfires on a single bank?

I bet it's a faulty ICM. Each ICM controls each bank of cylinders. Try swapping the ICM wiring harnesses - if the misfires jump to the other bank of cylinders you know you have a bad ICM.

So lets close this thread down. It was a bad AC compressor catching and slowing the engine enough to trigger the misfire detection. Thanks for your help, anyone who was helpful.
