Misfire on one cylinder. Any thoughts?

Car is misfiring badly on startup in cylinder 3. Usually will show about 30 misfires before it resets. As it warms up and load drops, they settle down, although still misfire. Before I go buy a new coilpack, anyone have an idea, or experience with this same problem?

I have already changed plugs and put a new CTS in. Thanks for the help.

ignition amp swap

archives have a ton of data on it, including a component fix...

Wouldn't a bad amp cause it to misfire on more than one cylinder?

No, according to this past post...

did you swap coil packs and confirm imifires follow the cp?

Silence 03-18-2008 01:47 PM

Not yet, just cause its such a PITA on these cars, but will be soon I suppose.

jprice@CPS 03-18-2008 01:49 PM

It's not too bad, you can swap 2 and 3 without even touching the airbox.

Ok, just swapped ignition amps..

Went to start up. Misfires on every cylinder, although only bad on 6 and 3 initially. After counter reset, still the same culprit, cylinder 3, although it seemed to be a lil better, but not much.

I then tried unplugging the MAF, still misfires on 3 only. Once the car's idle settled, it seemed to only misfire maybe 4 times or so every counter reset. Seems to me it is the pack. Any thoughts?

Really? I guess I only ever tried while changing plugs. Guess that's next on list.
