Mixed ~2.5gal of 100-oct + ~14gal of 93 = ~94-oct-. Smoother stock? Or placebo effect? Anyone?

Because the fuel doesn't mix consistantly....
It shouldn't hurt anything, but say if you mix 8 gallons of 91 with 8 gallons of 101. Your going to have a VERY inconsistant mix of fuel and run a higher risk of causing your engine to ping.... Say your running XR program and the car sucks up some inconsitantly mixed 91 fuel instead of the 97 or so you should have. Not good.... I am looking for a more technical answer, but it is hard to find.

wouldnt make any difference...here's the mixing chart for 91 octane...
note how much 100 you need to up the octane.

I might add that race fuels are VERY different than pump fuel....
Sunco 104 is only like 15% and 85% additives... If you are mixing 94 with 104 you should be fine, but I can't say I would mix 91 craptain with Sunco 104.

I would have to say that's not true...
Maybe with the 02's where the fuel line is returnless, say if you were to dump in some 100 octane, your fuel lines would still have whatever pump gas you have in it. But with the 01's, the fuel will mix fine. All that sloshing around will for sure mix it around, and the fuel in the car is constantly being pumped back into the tank.
