Monday Morning Update after MAM, topics covered: fuel econ, Alcons, Susp, Car in general
Well to begin, for those wondering what fuel economy they can expect from a stage 3 PEB fueling kit here you go: The trip computer seems to double its estimates, so for example when I filled up after getting home my DTE was 820 miles...anyways this is what I got going average of 70-75 no AC, 388.9 on 14.25 gallons 27.29 miles/gallon. Not too bad.
Now to the Alcons + Stasis Tracksport rears. These brakes ALMOST held up to the entire day of lapping. Only on one occasion did I get brake fade, and even then the brakes still stopped the car (I just ended up doing a little trail braking into turn 1 :P ). But lets face it, this car is HEAVY, and no matter how big the brakes, we are fighting a LOT of enertia (but you all knew that).
Suspension...I gotta get a new one. The H&R streets are no good for regular tracking. Of course I knew this going into it, but I wasn't expecting to do as many track events when I bought them. I had a lovely fender that kept getting pulled out on turn 12 (I think it was 12...) that kept slicing my tire.
Stage 3, after my car threw an Exhaust Temps too High code at BIR I turned the boost down to 15psi and had the heater going full blast during the lapping sessions. On Sunoco 94 the car was moving pretty good. My friend brought his 400whp NSX and on the straight he pulled but I kept up with him in the turns.
Finally, these facts played out:
1) The S4 is too heavy
2) I own an S4
3) I want a lighter car :P
4) The ride home sure was nice

How was the event overall? Ours went well - zero incidents and nice weather.
A good number of B5 and B6 S4s came out, also. Unfortunately, the BMWs outnumbered the Audis at an Audi event, which is pretty pathetic, IMO.
Let's try not to have competing events next time!

It was actually really good...
A bunch of people ended up leaving around mid afternoon, and they combined run groups. At the end you would have had ALL of the lapping time you wanted over 3-4 hours. At one point there were only 2 cars on the track, and they ran for about 50 minutes. My friend wants to put on like 4 events next season so I'll keep you posted. But next year I'll try and do the Heartland park event. Sorry that so few Audi's were there...that sucks
