More on Canadian Bumper and Fog lights...
I guess I'll know the real answer first hand, soon, as my bumper will arrive next Monday.
But, since I'm VERY familiar with the front end of the S4 ("exploded" view!), I cannot see where there would be trouble mounting the fog lamps, as they mount to the panel behind the bumper, not the bumper itself.
If I had to guess, I'd say the problem with Canadian specs is the fact that the fog lamps mount to the car body itself, yet sit flush against the intercooler grills mounted to the bumper. If the Canadian standard is like the original USA one, the bumper must withstand a 5 mph flat front collision with NO damage. This requires the gas shocks to compress, absorbing the impact. Problem is, when the bumper is shoved back, something as to give where the fog lamps press against the bumper grill, and I suspect they could not get that to pass without damage to either the fog lamp, or the intercooler grill.
For me, that is acceptable damage, especially given that with the USA bumper, they're gone, anyway. The USA bumper beam is a joke, with the huge cutouts, and the impact absorbers are one shot, no recoil, if indeed they work at all, mine didn't.
I really do not understand the USA bumper beam, it is pretty solid over a lot of the span, but the cutout weakens it so much they could have reduced the overall size and weight, and achieved protection at least the equal of what they currently have. But the fan cutout, combined with an unfortunate alignement of relief and mounting holes creates a virtual "hinge" just to the driver's side of center.
I certianly don't intend to hit anything else, but if I do have another accident, at least the bumper will not CAUSE frame damage by splaying the mounts apart!<p>Jim De Arras

Jim, minimum US bumper standard is 2.5MPH no damage to "safety related systems"
