Is it a must to have a tip chip with the GIAC chip mod? Yes / No Why? TIA

Well
honestly, I have no clue. From what I have been told, the Tip Tranny is software controlled. I guess the clamping power is also software controlled. So, when the chip goes in, it uses it's built in software to controll the tranny. Problem is, even with the extra clamping power(if it truly is there), the stock Tip clutch is only rated at so much. You will need different clutch bands if you want it to hold more torque. Again, this is just what I've been told. I'm no real guru at this stuff. I'm better with the turbo stuff. =)

honesty is good, I just don't see the benefit of it,
I guess I would have to blow some more cash and see, but I am already running a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile and the fastest Tip I have heard of was NASA and his 13.8 with the tip chip (and exhaust?). So would the $ be a worth-while mod? I do not have the gear hunting issue people seem to report after chipping.

Faster shifts and stops the hunting between 4th and 5th
When you enhance the engine power, the stock tranny doesn't know which gear to select at high cruising speeds, so you get a 4-5 hunting problem. The GIAC eliminates that.
