Default my cell phone holder (long) (pics)

i just got my new nokia since my audi phone just kept dying
anyway i didnt want to put it in the armrest because it would be flopping all around and i didnt want it in the door pocket for the same reason
i thought about the glove box but i probably wouldnt hear it and it would be too far away to anwser
i prob could have used the cupholder but that is taken by my s4 hat so i had nowhere to put it
so i made a spot
here is what i did
first i ejected the ashtray peice (the plastic one with the chrome ring around it)

the i removed the chrome ring by prying up to little clips on the sides of it and sliding it forward
after that you take the chrome peice and carefully cut away the two "cigarette holders" or cigarette put out thingys
i dont know what they are called but you cut them off
make sure you cut these of and smooth the area really well with the dremel so you dont scratch your phone wheny ou put it in and out

then get some nice fabric from the store... i used black but a bright blue would be sweet for the noagro/ blue alcantra owners out there
lay the fabric over the plastic ashtry and put your phone into the tray.
make sure your phone still sits in the try all the way and that the fabric isnt too thick otherwise you nwont be able to conseal your phone

now take the chrome ring and snap it back on over the fabric and clamp the clips down... get all the wrinkles and bunching out of the fabric but amke sure there is still enough room for the phone to fit in all the way
now hot glue a thin thin bead of glue on the underside of the faric where it touchs the plastic ashtray (glue fabric to plastic not fabric to the bottom of the chrome)

with all of this done trim away the excess fabric that is sticking out on all sides as close as you can to the chrome ring
a scalpel and a small set of sissors from a swiss army knife work great (if they are sharp)

now insert your ashtray back into the sliding drawer and you are done

oh yeah
its a little difficlt to get the phone in and out but if you put it in the tray like it is in the pictures with the phone to the left of the tray you can put your finger in the right of the tray and lift the phone right out with no trouble

the chrome ring around the tray goes perfect with the chrome phone

now you have a nice place just for your phone
you can leave it in there while you use it if you have the headset too since the little jack is still accessible

also you can hear it ring with the tray closed and the air and radio on!

tell me what you all think

Peter

this took me about 1.5 hours including shopping for fabric, a glue gun, and also including the pictures i took

the hardest part was finding a nice fabric and makeing the edges you cut smooth

PPS
sorry about any spelling errors its 1:15 and im tired<p>Peter L
