My experience with Pep Boys' Mobil1 Buy3Get3 coupon...
Just wanted to report back since others had questions about this...
Their 2005 calendar has a Buy3Get3free Mobil1 coupon. Most every Pep Boys, however, does not carry M1 0w40. I had bought a calendar a while ago and just had it sitting around. This weekend, I finally decided to give it a shot and brought it to Advance Auto Parts. I brought up my 6qts and the girl behind the counter said she didn't think she could use it. She asked one of the guys next to her, and he hesitated a bit. I calmly mentioned that other Advance Parts have taken it, and they went ahead and honored it. They just did a price adjustment and figured out the cost at 50% for each, and then typed PepBoys in some comment field. They also had the oil on sale for $4.48, so I ended up gettin the 6qts at $2.24 each. Not too shabby. So, I'm not sure that it will work everytime and if they see me too often, they might cut me off, but nonetheless it worked this time.
I then went to PepBoys to get more calendars, but being that it is February, they were all out. I had also asked if they could get in 0w40, but they said no. I mentioned that some other PepBoys had, and he said that if they did, it wasn't though the warehouse. That sucks, because PepBoys also has M1 on sale for $3.99 right now. Yesterday, I was cruising along and saw a PepBoys that I didn't even know existed and pulled in. They had 18 left, so I grabbed all of them (5 were for a SScott).
The calendars are $1 each with the proceeds going to MADD, so it works out for all. Now I just need to remember to bring one into the office as it's still December per my desk and wall caledar
Anyway, just thought I would share...

You'd think they'd be more consistent...
When I did this trick, my PepBoys didn't carry the 0w40, but since I had the magic #, they WERE able to order it through the "warehouse".
Next time, I'll see what I can work with using the coupon at Advance. Just a little testing...

Here's the SKU number info...
<i>" Noticed here where some lament that Pep Boys has no M1 0w30 or 0w40. I emailed Pep Boys and they had me contact marketing. Spoke to a nice lady who said Pep Boys no longer carried M1 0w30 because Mobil would not supply it to them. Not their decision. They do carry M1 0w40 but as a 'warehouse order" item. She gave me the SKU number and said to give it to them at my local store and they could get it, no shipping.
So, here's the deal if you want Mobil1 0w40.
Go to the parts order counter and give them the SKU# 9212671. They put it in the computer, get your phone number and ask how much you want. The receipt prints out at the front register. Went there with my calander coupons, paid for the buy 3 get 3 free. Two days later, they called and the shipment was at the local store and I picked up my M1 0w40. Don't trust the system, Call your local store first and give them the SKU and make sure.
P.S. Email Mobil and tell them you want 0w30 at Pep Boys, if that's the case.
Hope this helps."</i>

to get mob 1 0-40 throught pep-boys you can go through "special orders" department or do what 85-4kq-girl did ..order using the part number.

I got 8 qts the other night at Autozone for $0. Inventory showed -4 on the system, .......
I wanted 7, and there were 8 on the shelf. The cashier puts the 8 qts in a box and says "You're all set." I said "Excuse me?". He says "You're all set." I wasn't gonna argue. Saved myself $35. (=
