To my fellow PEB Tuners...
This weekend when coming home from Mid America I was in a caravan of cars that included, among other vehicles, an STI. First of all I need to preface things by saying that I was always impressed with the video K04Madness posted with his S4 pulling away from the STI with that guy gripping his shifter like his life depended on it. Anyways on with the story. We were on 35W and things were clear ahead for a little while. So we lined up and downshifted to 4th, slowing down to about 70. 3 honks, WOT, I begin walking on him. Later on we have more open space. 3 honks, WOT, I walk all over him, 4-5 cars by 5th. As a few side notes I was carrying about 100lbs in brakes and tools, my boost was turned down from 22lbs to 15lbs, and my AC was on. I didn't think I would have been able to pull like that...I wonder what would have happened had I been running at full boost, AC turned off and the car emptied.
For those that are curious: Piggie Pipes Milltek 3" catback RS4 IC's GIAC X Joe P MBC PEB TCD Port and Polished Intake Manifold Intake Manifold spacers Mixed properly makes for pretty potent sauce... oh yeah...I've never thrown a code :) |
K03's?
|
I wasn't aware you could limit boost like that. Good job though ;-)

Affirmitive

22psi on K03s? I weep for them. :P
|
that's why they were turned down to 9lbs during lapping :)
You know Mike...he always says there's more headroom :)
19 is where I'm skeptically comfortable with. |
MBC my friend :)

Question: I'm assuming you're using the MBC to limit boost....
so, do the turbos still spool enough to make higher than 15psi boost, and you're bleeding that boost off? Or does the MBC limit air into the combustion chambers, thereby preventing any spike and not allowing for enough mass in the exhaust gases to spool the turbos higher than 15psi? I guess I just don't understand where the boost is going, or how the MBC is 'cutting' it down.
Thanks for any clarity Aman |
How do you like the spacer & P&P'ed manifold?
|
Good plan. And nice work with the STI.
