Default My GIAC chip is slower than stock...

My car seems to have an intake leak so into the dealer in went, with a stock chip. No leak could be found, no codes, air test negative. I've been having problems with the car lately, it won't hold boost at WOT and just sounds aweful. Tonight I drove the car stock and it is faster than chipped. Something is not right, because stock should not have more power. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I think I'll call Velocity and see if they can look at it. Any thoughts why the car would be slower with the higher boost, other than the obvious fact that is seems to have an intake leak only when chipped? Thanks.

Default did you take out the chip correctly?

there have been people in the past who have broken their chips while swaping back to stock.

I have two ECUs, no need to touch the chip.

Default Heh, if you broke your chip (bent pins or something) your car probably wont' run at ALL :-)

My guess is you have a small tear or leak on the boost-side of the intake that only "opens" when under really high boost.

Do you have a boost gauge? Or at least access to a vag-com?

Default Check the boots yourself, esp the throttle body boot. Dealers are not always uhh.... careful.

Default How high did they pressure test the intake to?

What it could be is flex in the pipes esp near the intercooler could be causing a leak when > 1 bar.
