Default My GolfRSI Piano Black Trim came in today. No instructions though, and I need some help...

How do I:

1. Remove the hazard trim piece?
2. Remove the ashtray and its trim piece?
3. Remove the large dash trim piece?

I think I can manage the rest. Thanks.

Default The ashtray does not need to be removed...simply pull straight out on the trim piece to remove it.

It just pops right off. The hazard trim is a pain because the clips always break off. try to pry that with flat head screw drivers straight out. If you can find a picture of what the back of the hazard trim looks like, it makes it easier to understand what you are doing. I looked but didnt look long enough, I know pics are out there. The long dash piece is the most interesting. Some people claim there is a shortcut, but the long way involves taking out the glove box, and removing your stereo and center console. there is a write up in the A4 tech section on making your dash into brush aluminum look, or something to that effect. I will see if I can dig up some better info for ya.

Tech how to dash info

Default Here is a link to Mark P's website that has some useful pictures as far as understanding how differe

nt parts of your center console come apart.

Mark P's dash pics

Default HAVE FUN :)

But seriously, the hazard surround comes off easier with the stereo removed. It is held in by 4 clips, 1 in each corner. To pull the large trim piece off, you must remove the center console, glove box, stereo, hazard surround, etc...if you need specifics email me.

Default HOW DO I REMOVE THE HVAC UNIT?!?

I have everything else out already, but am stuck with the HVAC unit. It needs to come out in order to pull the plastic center console out enough to remove the radio cage. Thanks.
