#21
Good info for MY 2000 owners like myself .. thanks to the guys on the forum i did not order the sensor that did not work .. I am going to try one thinh however.. any sender should go open then full deflection when grounded... i am going to try this on my car as a test and will update .. may provide for some good troubleshooting info for the future.
Thanks again
Thanks again
I couldn't find any way the aftermarket one was changing its signal while testing, and applying voltage or grounding the signal wire didn't effect the gauge. But replaced with a factory unit, works perfect!

Hello. I have a 2000 Audi C5 A6 Quattro V6 2.8L, and i have the same exact problem. Just purchased car, no oil leaks, smooth ride, everything. I noticed when car gets warm the temp guage never moves and is staying on the white line reading cold. after reading multiple posts, what do i type in exactly to find the HELLA PART everyone is talking about. I am new to the audi world, and this is my first real car. I want to take the best care of it. I just recently purchased 1. Duralast Oil Pressure Switch (https://www.autozone.com/external-en...58_264928_8537). was this what i needed? If not what is the exact name of part by Hella i should be purchasing? i understand this car has a combined sensor under the oil pan, i cannot find this sensor anywhere online for purchase. Please help Audi experts.

Hello. I replaced yesterday the oil sensor with the HELLA 1J0907660B and it works as it should.
I was receiving an occasional yellow OIL SENSOR message on the dash, and I asked to change the original sensor to my mechanic, together with the oil change. Guess what? The oil temperature sensor on dash was not working anymore with the new aftermarket sensor. So I connected VCDS and there was an error about signal to the oil temp gauge was not compliant or something like that. So I researched here and I found many with this issue. Then I bought the HELLA 1J0907660B and installed and now everything works. So basically the mechanic installed a not 100% compatible sensor. Its reading to the ECU was fine, but not the temp gauge signal.

Oil temp sensor connector missing
I have no belly pan, and it appears the sensor plug came undone and dragged on the road, and all I have now is some bare wires.
Where is the other end of this wire? Can I just buy the the complete wire?
