Default My S4 has the Jitters at Idle

Hi All,

This is hard for me to describe, but i get an intermittent "jitter" in my S4 when it is idleing and it is warmed up. Anyone else have a similar problem? Or better yet, can anyone tell me that their S4 idles completely smooth and they have never experienced this? I just bought the car about a month ago (used 2000 model) so I don't know if it is normal.

Thanks.

Victor

Default most S4's idle kinda rough. I believe its the fairly aggresive cam profile...

now if it's stalling, that would be a problem.

Default Pretty normal, but shouldn't be so bad as to cause ripples in a cup in the cupholder

That's the best gauge of "too rough" that I can think of.

The dealership just called me (I dropped it off last night to have a couple minor things adjusted) and they said that the diagnostics aren't showing anything strange. I just figured it is strange since I start the car, let it warm up to normal operating temp, and it is smooth as silk, but after driving it for a bit, when I stop (at a stoplight for example) it will be pretty rough. The tach seems to be holding steady.

I'm assuming the A6 2.7T also idles this way?

thanks for all the quick responses guys!! I am gonna head down to the dealer now and try to duplicate the jitter for their S4 specialitst. with my luck, the car will run perfectly and i will look like a fool (it wouldn't be the first time haha).

Default Have the dealer turn the idle up. Mine is at 800 or 810rpm now, no more jitters or misfires!

Well, an occasional misfire, but 95% less!
