Default Mysterious fan after turning off car?

I'm sure this has been discussed to no end, but a search on "fan off" got hits on climate control for the most part. After shutting down the car (and removing the keys) , I heard a fan running so I popped the hood and it sounded like it was coming from the intercooler. It ran for a while and then shut itself down (initially I heard no fan noise after turning off the car and then it came on by itself). Do we have an engine/intercooler fan in our S4s that runs automatically after shutting down? Whenever I idle the engine for a minute or two after a hard run, I don't hear this fan come on after turning off the car.

Default Actually, I think it is the motor that pumps coolant

for up to an hour (i believe) to cool the turbos down.

That is normal. Electric fan turned on by temp; not by belt.
