NE1 know if old APR S3 calipers are stoptech gen 1, gen 2, or neither and something proprietary..??

From what I found, the APRs are actually Brembo-based S8 calipers...
...of which the Stoptechs loosely emulate. But they're not Stoptech calipers. The rotors are Stoptech, but the hats are different too.
I'm sure someone will debate or flame me on these points. Hopefully they have better knowledge...

A long time ago it was believed they were Stoptech kits
The only difference was that the finish on the calipers was an anodized finish as opposed to the standard powdercoat finish that Stoptech uses.

Nope- I'll step up to debate: They are Stoptech ST40 Calipers, Stoptech Aero Rotors, and custom hats
I have sent my APR rotors to Stoptech to have serviced, so hopefully that will convince anyone who's uncertain.
They are definitely not Gen1 Stoptech offerings because I disticntly recall the Engineer at APR that determined the piston Specs, which were different from what Stoptech was selling. At somepoint thereafter, Stoptech also chose the same size that APR was using. I'm not sure if they still sell the same or not.
Just as HIS4 said, the anodized finish was done by Stoptech just for APR

Bzzzt.
All ST-40s are annodized. They're just painted in addition.
The old Stage III APR stuff is Stoptech ST-40 Gen 2, without the directional hats.
StopTech will service your APR Stage III stuff, as they have mine. If they were S8/Brembo stuff, this wouldn't be true.

APRs may not be Gen I's, but they're not Gen IIs either...
Here's a pic of Stoptech Gen I:

Here's a pic of APR Stg 3 Caliper:

APR caliper looks like Gen I, notice outer face and bracket bolt config. I tried my wheels over Gen I's and there was <1mm axial clearance. I have ~4mm clearance to my Gen II's. I won't argue the original source, but the Stoptech and APR hats and offset are different, and the Gen II caliper design has better clearance. I went round and round calling APR, Stoptech, and TireRack about what would fit under my RCs, and actually they said NONE of them would fit. True for the Gen I's, possibly the APRs, but obviously the Gen II's fit. R1EATER confirmed the Gen II fitment before I bought these.
Sorry for the slow image loads, my DSL up is teh suck. Image credits to Stoptech, and DonP for the APRs.
