Default NEED ANSWER ASAP: Are ECU's specific to the car after 30 starts?
I know benz's do that crap, but if one were to put a chipped ECU that had been used for a while out of one S4 into another S4... would it work? Or are the damn things car specific?

Default Hadn't heard about that for Audis. Lots of people swap ECUs...
...could this be a feature of the newer 2001+ ECUs though?

SPecific only to the box as in M, L, H, A box FWIK not sure if that's what you are looking for.

Default Nada, just have to get some things taken care of...
like taking the stickers off of it, put the back seat back in, toss the cat-back in the trunk with the stock downpipes, and finally trailor it over to the dealership.

I'll probably try and talk to the mechanic next week, and see when I can take him out to lunch. Then I'll know more after we discuss the situation

Default Immobilizer III cars have ECU and instrument cluster tied together
but it's gotta be done before the car will run. AFAIK, no US S4s have Immobilizer-anything.
