Default Need help with auto detailing info. Here's the scoop... More>>>

I'm washing my father's white truck to sell but my problem is that he hasn't washed it in several years (possibly since 1999). When he purchased it I gave him several protective items to keep the car in somewhat good condition: bed rail guards, bed liner, bug deflector, etc. Those items did a great job protecting the body and paint but the turck is f'ing filthy.
What can I use to take out tar and dried bugs that I don't need to scrub too hard? Also, there is a film of brown filth all over the truck. If I scrub very hard it comes off but is there a better way??
Has anyone ever used Greased Lightning grease remover mixed into car soap? It says nothing about it ruining a car's clear coat and I figure an engine compartment is the same as the exterior.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default Detailing forum has good info. 3M Adhesive Remover or claybar will work well.

I'd shy away from Greased Lightning on the paint.

Greased Lightning is great for bug/tar removal, iirc.
