need help on buying used custom s4 b5
18 year old, extrememly close to buying a 2001 s4, it has 111,000 miles, timing belt replaced @ 80K, has turbo kit, short shift kit,APR brake kit, turbo timer,APR chip, super catback exhaust. 18" BBS wheels.chassis dropped. I had the car inspected it is fine except for a small oil leak, and from where the previous owner dropped the car the front brake lines need to be replaced with shorter lines so they dont wear down.i come to you guys b/c you all seem to be experts on your audis'.i have a few questions for any one who will answer 1st one being when do the turbos usually die or start to fail? any one have any idea the life left on this car, repairs,(worried about turbos) etc etc

It really depends. If you STFA, you'll hear two things when owning a B5 S4.
1. Either have the knowledge to fix the car on your own (i.e. you are a DIY type of person) or
2. Have the money for someone knowledgeable to do it for you.
Some people are still running on original K03's for well over 100k miles, while others blow K04's after less than 5k miles. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with owner behavior, the quality of the mods and how they were installed, along with luck of the draw regarding mod/turbo build quality.
You should have a couple of thousand dollars laying around for unexpected costs. IMO, that applies to any non-Honda/Toyota make.
The initial cost in buying a B5 S4 may be cheap but the maintenance isn't. I know I didn't have a couple thousand dollars laying around when I was 18, but everyone is different.

i definately dont have a couple grand laying around right now for sure, especially since this car would be costing me 12,900 but the car has all history of documentation, date and who installed the parts and has had some recent repairs. the auto shop i took it to said it was in great shape, it has turbo gauges could that tell me how they r running?
