NEED HELP - FAST: Did I install my wheels wrong???
I just swapped on some 18" BBS REs with Kumho MXs that I bought used from Chip Crispino (Chipstar) on the A4/AWMA forum.
The tires vibrate like crazy and the sound is deafening. When I brake, the dashboard starts to rattle.
Lugbolts tightened properly - check.
Hubcentric rings - check.
Balance weights on rims - check. (Don't know if they're balanced properly - Chip said they were.)
So, did I put them on backwards? I usually go by the rotation arrow on the sidewall, since the tread patterns confuse me. Can tires rotating backwards cause such a huge vibration (this is even between 5-20 mph, mind you).
So please take a look at my pics and see if you can tell me if I put them on backwards.
Otherwise, please advise what else this might be. Please keep in mind that I just swapped off my 17" RCs with Nokians, and the car ran fine with that setup, so I know it's gotta be the new rims.
Another possibility: Could the lugbolts be the wrong size? I know they're the right shape - cone seat, but Chip didn't have the bolts so I had TireRack send me what they told me were the right bolts for this setup.
TIA.
Pics - I would feel really stupid if these are backwards, but I hope the problem is that simple. My understanding is that they are not according to the direction of the arrow on the sidewall:

See, that's the thing. TireRack told me I needed longer bolts for these than for the RCs. (more)
The bolts they sent me were 2 units (I don't know what the measurement unit is for useable thread) longer than what I had for the RCs.
The 17" RCs were ET35. The 18" REs are also ET35.

it sounds like something is rubbing something...
...so either the lug bolts are hitting the back of the hub, which if too long they will, or the wheel is hitting the caliper, which if too close to inside spoke it will, or the tire is rubbing the upright, which it could as well.
Put that sucker up on jack stands and grab a flashlight and see what looks abused...
