Need help on my decision...
TIA for any advice. Here's the deal, I'm thinking about saying goodbye to the S4. I'm looking to buy a house soon and want to save some $$. My new job has me working in bad neighborhoods with horrible roads in NJ, so I have to worry about theft/break-in, parking, and destroying my wheels/suspension.
We all know the pros of our cars. The cons for me are: expensive parts and possibility of damage from roads and thieves.
I was looking at either a new or CPO GMC Yukon. Pros would be HD suspension, much cheaper replacement parts after warranty expires, more space for all my gear (I'm a reservist), and ability to tow my bike. The cons would be poor mileage and large size.
I was thinking I could get about $20k for my car. It's a 2000 six speed, black leather, wood trim, 60K miles, all options minus phone, clear title, and no problems. Only body work is the new door from theft attempts (4!!). Does that sound right? What would be the best way to sell? What about a trade-in? I can get a great finance rate through USAA.
Opinions anyone?

If you are on original turbos be concerned that when they blow
it will cost a bunch. S4s are very expensive to maintain after warrenty if you are unlucky.
Imo Yukons are road barges. I live in Colorado and go into the mountains all the time and S4 does great. But I am not a hauling massive amounts of gear and do not tow so a Yukon would fit the bill for you for sure. They are built like tanks!
One more thing, you WILL miss the S4 and regret selling it, that is for sure...

Thanks. I know I'll miss the S for sure. I just can't afford to have something
like the turbos go. If I didn't live in Jersey and work in the stolen car capital I would keep it! I was thinking about getting a beater, but then that goes back to the reliability issues.
