Default Need help with this one..very bizarre

when its warms out..for example yesterday in boston it was 50..my drivers side door when i shut it and hit the alarm (stock audi alarm) to lock it the "beep" sound does not go off and the interior light stays on..i have to slam the door to get the alarm to set properly, ie "beep" and in some instances no matter how many times i shut the door the alarm does not set properly..any experience this..its as if the car doesnt think the door is shut so the alarm does not activate.

Default Door switch inside the drivers door is flaking out.

Search...it's somewhat common.

Default I have a similar issue, but haven't looked into part location yet, please keep me informed :)

I have the "beep" turned off, so I don't know when it happens immediately.

When I park in the garage, I obviously don't set my alarm, and thus (when not setting the alarm) it takes about 20 seconds after closing the door for the interior light to turn off. When the door switch doesn't think it's closed, the light stays on, which is the only way I know the issue is occurring. I'm thankful Audi is smart enough to turn off the interior light if the door is left open more than 5 minutes, otherwise I'd likely have a dead (or damaged) battery by now.

It just occurred to me that this could be the same reason why my car alarm went off (sounded) a few times yesterday with all doors closed and windows rolled up. That would could indeed hurt the battery, so I guess I need to tackle this soon...

Default did a search and it sounds like a door switch..80 dollar part plus you have to take....

the door off. i am going up to TJM/NEA in concord to get a wheel bearing fixed and will have them do that as well..

Default door *panel* I presume? If so, it's only 5 screws...

to get the door panel off. Do you have the P/N? Probably worth checking impex, clair, and ECS to see if it can be obtained for less $. Unless of course that's where the $80 price quote is from. Sucks that such an expensive part is used instead of a normal door pin switch. Oh well...

I don't recall there being any part in here that wasn't window/speaker/lock/mirror related, but I also wasn't looking for it at the time:

Default took mine out today..pita..sprayed it out, works for now >>

the plastic panels inside the door are a real pain to get out.
If you don't have good skills don't try it yourself.
The switch is sealed so I probably wasted my time.
But it is working for now.
