Need Help: Thinking of switching 00 A4 order to S4
I am thinking of switching my A4 order to an S4. While I can afford the switch, my only concern is insurance. I am 24 years old with no accidents or tickets. The best insurance quote I got on an A4 1.8 Q was $1650 per year. How much more will the S4 cost me in insurance. If there is anyone else my age who has an S4 insurance quote I would appreciate a reply. Thanks

Insurance is scary for us younger people..(more)
Wes -
I'm paying almost identical insurance on my 96 2.8 A4 -- and I'm three years younger, also with no accidents or tickets.
I've got an S4 coming soon, and let me tell you -- the insurance costs are definetly more. You're probably looking at $2200-$2400/year. This is one of the few times where I WISH I was ten or fifteen years older

Re: Need Help: Thinking of switching 00 A4 order to S4
I'm 24 too, have a 98 1.8T, and my current 100/300/100 coverage is $1800 per year. I just called my agent and she said they would go off of the sticker price of the car and some other info. until the car is in their system. The quote for new (S4) insu. at 100/300/100 is about $2100 per year. When I turn 25, however, the price drops to $1500 or so per year. I don't know if the same discounts are available to you.

I'm 24 also and living in Colorado. I've got insurance through Progressive, and for my 98.5 1.8TQ, I'm paying about $1300 a year (no accidents, etc). They quoted me roughly $1550 a year for the S4 -- same as everyone else, they didn't have the car in the system so they used a 2.8.

That's the only reason I might be able to get S4...
..my current insurance on my 98 1.8TQ is just under $3000 a year or $245 a month. I'm turning 24 in several months and I have an accident and one ticket(that show up on my driving record). I live in So. Cal and use Mercury insurance. I don't want to waste $300 a month on insurance just to drive an S4. Importing a Subaru 22B STI is looking better by the minute.

You can ask your insurance co. yourself - here's how...
I assume you already tried to ask them, and they didn't know what an S4 was, so they couldn't give you an answer. If they're anything like my company, when they didn't have the model in their DB, they said "well do you have a VIN?"
scroll through the S4 forum posts of about 10 days ago - a bunch of people posted their VINs for comparison. You can "borrow" one of those - that plus a price is usually enough for any insurance company to give you a quote.
Just don't actually add someone else's VIN to your insurance of course 8-)
