New 4.2 in the '04 S4 to be automatic only?
Please pardon me if this has been discussed a thousand times already - but since the 4.2 V8 engine is not offered with an optional manual transmission in the A6 or the S6 because it is apparently "too powerful" for an Audi manual tr., does this mean the 2004 S4 with the 4.2 is going to be offered only as an automatic and the 6 speed is going to be reserved for the 2.7T (which if I understand correctly, is still going to be an option)?

There's no question that Audi does in fact have a six speed that can easily deal with the torque of the 4.2 V8. The 2.7T in RS4 tune put out significantly bigger numbers than the V8 last time I checked, and it came in stick.

No rumour I've heard...just deductive curiosity. I didn't want to get my hopes up if AoA was going to shut me down with a Tiptronic.
