New car problems...
Kinda worried about Audi quality control now... I bought a $$$ S4, not an A4 econobox darn it!
Brought the car in to the dealer today because I couldn't close the glovebox easily (kept popping open) and there was a buzzing noise from the center console. Result:
1) The glovebox needs to be replaced. The mechanic showed me where the glovebox is actually majorly CRACKED. Cool that he pointed this out, but should it leave the factory like this?
2) He used a vag-com tool to figure out the entire center control module needs to be replaced... showed me a nice printout with some numbers on it. I checked with my own VAG-Com, I get no errors on the HVAC, only this one on the Instrument cluster:

Anybody know what error this is?
I also checked most of my other modules, the power locks module shows four fault codes, something about alarm trips and keys? Is this normal?
FYI the car now has 500 miles on it.
Kinda bummed a got so many problems right off the bat.

My sister got a brand new 540i sport, it came delivered with the heat stuck on full blast and...
the temp stuck on 85 degrees. Ouch, hot tamales!
Cars are machines, machines have problems. I don't care who makes them. Audi makes some great quality cars, but unfortunately there will always be a few that get by their QA.

I agree...all new cars have (or will have) some problems...
but I think it's awesome that the mechanic would take the time to show you exactly what the problems were and I assume, quickly replace the defective parts.
Good /excellent dealer service can make up for other shortcomings...assuming that are relatively minor and infrequent.
Opinions from the cheap seats....happy motoring!

Yeah...if you check out JD Power, even Lexus scores a 216 problems per 100 vehicles,
or an average of 2.16 problems per car, in the 2000 survey, and they've had the best ranking of all cars in these things for several years. The worst, Ford, scored a 443, or 4.43 problems per car on average...
Here are the JD Power reliability studies for the last four years, if anyone's interested:
