If you have been waiting months for your S4, do not read any further. But if you do read on, have an adult beverage handy to settle you down.

Although I was pretty happy driving around in my 98.5 A4 1.8T, I contracted the dreaded S4 Wannabe Virus by foolishly reading this forum. Thanks folks. After months of annoying my co-workers going back and forth with "Yeah, I'm gonna get one." -- "No, I think I'll just get some A4 upgrades." -- I finally couldn't take it any longer and decided to call around some SF Bay Area dealers. Thanks to Steve Sherwood, I made a call on Thursday to Ernst Gosch at Diablo Audi in Concord.

Ernst tells me that, yes, it would be months if I order one and it would be a 2001 model with a price increase. 3-4% or something?? Then he says he happens to have an S4 in the showroom just now and describes it...

Silver/Onyx/Manual/Convenience/Bose/6-CD Changer/Cold Weather

Do I want it? Ummmm...yes. With the exception of the cold weather pkg, it's the exact car I would have ordered. $1000 deposit over the phone, drive to Concord with friend, sign papers, drive home in new S4. MSRP, by the way. All this in one day.

Yep, listen to your compadre Steve S. Ernst is great. And I think I've used up a year's supply of luck on this.

Thanks again to everyone on this forum for getting the S4 under my skin. For those of you waiting (im)patiently for your S4, I'm sorry, but I just had to tell this story. Ok, let's get that beverage now.
Alan G

Bought. Got financing through Star One Credit Union at 7.25%. No matter what, it's still a big "Ouch" in the pocketbook.
Alan G

Way to just do it. MSRP is good for a car on the lot.

Wow, I am feeling better and better about my credit union's 5.99% rate that I got for 72 months on my new Silver/Onyx 2000 S4 last month.

By the way, this car is awesome!
Kevin
